Iconic pair of "Senior" lounge chairs designed by world known designer Marco Zanuso and manufactured by Arflex, Italy 1951.
Italian architect-designer Marco Zanuso was born in Milan in 1916. He graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1939 and opened his own architecture and design studio in 1945. His designs were characterized by bright colors, synthetic materials, and sculptural shapes, bringing vanguard concepts to mass-produced consumer products.
In the late 1940s, Zanuso began collaborating with Italian manufacturing company Arflex. He designed a series of pieces for Arflex that became icons of modernist design. These designs can be found in many permanent collections, including MoMA New York, the Triennale in Milan, and the Arflex Museum in Italy.
