Carl Aubock
Carl Aubock was one of the most important characters of Austrian modernism. Once a student of Johannes Ittenhas at The Bauhaus, he took over his father's metal workshop, where he developed his iconic style. Turning everyday objects such as paperweights and bookends into sculptural things of beauty, Auböck is famed for mixing tradition with Bauhaus design. Using brass, leather, wood and horn to create these extraordinary modern objects.
The Carl Aubock workshop can be found in the 7th district of Vienna in Bernardgasse 23.
