Pietro Constante Cardino, widely known as Pierre Cardin was born on July 02, 1922 in San Biagio di Callalta (Venice, Italy). He arrived in Paris in 1945 and started working for Paquin and then Schiaparelli. In the same year, he met Jean Cocteau and Christian Berard, with whom he designed masks and costumes for their film "La Belle et la Bete (The Beauty and the Beast.)" In 1950, Pierre Cardin founded his own company at 10 rue Richepanse and started designing masks and costumes for the theater. In 1954, his "bubble dresses" were a worldwide triump and 5 years later, in 1959 he presented his first ready-to-wear collection for women at the Printemps department store in Paris. He launched his first men's collection called "Cylindre" presented by 250 French students in 1960. Pierre Cardin was honored at a dedication ceremony for his many years of creation, from men's, women's, and children's collections to men's and women's perfume, adding him to the Palm Springs Walk of Stars on February 20, 2020.
