In 1916, Ico Parisi was born in Palermo. After earning his construction degree, he completed an apprenticeship at Giuseppe Terragni's studio. His work, which is characterized by constant experimentation, consists of an unceasing investigation into the fields of architecture, art, and design. In 1937, he created a photographic study of the Casa del Fascio for the magazine Quadrante, which marked the entirety of Parisi's research into "meditating on the legacies and contradictions of the enormous store of ideas and forms constituted by the experience of the masters." He focused his attention on the study of furniture components between 1948 and 1950. His experience in the world of design was strongly impacted by his pivotal interactions with Munari and Fontana (1951) and Melotti.
Cassina was established in 1927 in the Northern region of Brianza, Italy, an area noted for its skilled artisans and woodworkers. Rooted in high quality Italian craftsmanship Cassina began acquiring licenses to reproduce some of the world’s most well renowned furniture designs.
