Colors, Curves, and Contours. The G24 Table Lamp is a fascinating display of the creative work of Pierre Guariche. Enclosed in a miniature sconce, this light is as striking visually as is it functional. Now available at MONC XIII.
Pierre Guariche is one of the most important designers of the French post-war period. Guariche studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and he founded his own design office two years after graduating in 1951. From 1957, he worked as artistic director for the Belgian furniture manufacturer Meurop, designing, for example, futuristic space-age chairs for the brand. However, Guariche is best known for the luminaires he designed, many of which feature details like hidden light sources, perforated metal surfaces and slender leg structures. With their clever constructions, many of his luminaires are great examples of the designer’s endless interest in technological innovation.
